Who we are

BACKGROUND:

2inspire Academy was initially set up in March 2013 as a community group led by a small committee of young people from the BAME community whose aim was to target their projects to young men and women aged 16-30. The academy was initially formed to help this specific group of young people who needed to understand the importance of taking responsibility for their own development as a few of the individuals in the group found it difficult to find genuine opportunities to support their progression. There was a feeling of a lack of support and guidance to help them.

Aims and objectives of our projects for the groups we engage:

· To help them focus on what's important for them now and in the future, providing them with

access to positive opportunities and role models.

· To enable them to make informed decisions, increase their skills and achieve personal targets to become confident active citizens within their communities.

· To meet their educational, professional, entrepreneurial and employability needs .

· To meet their emotional, personal, health, life-skills and development milestones .

· To help them to meet their social and interpersonal needs .

· To create opportunities for positive engagement with the wider community.

We have engaged and built sustainable relationships with a broad spectrum of philanthropic professionals, entrepreneurs, organisations, local authorities, community leaders and inspirational individuals to help us to achieve our aims and objectives. Organisations that have funded, commissioned or supported our projects to date can be viewed on funders and supporters page.

There was a feeling of a lack of support and guidance to help them
which was de-motivating. The Academy was a platform to bring these young people together to provide them with the advice, guidance, resources, knowledge, education, experience and wisdom to help themselves and also other young people outside of their group. The idea was that these young people would be involved in the creation, planning, production, promotion, fundraising and management of  events and projects so as to develop  them as Individuals, particularly in areas of Leadership and Management. It was also to help them to make progress with their careers and plans for life. Due to the success of the projects that have been run since the Academy formed, the Academy went through the process of converting to a Community Interest company, which has a formally constituted board that consists of adults and young people and junior representatives.
