2inspire Academy CIC is proudly commissioned by Peabody to manage and activate two key community spaces in Thamesmead: Cygnet Square Community Day ( Formerly Cygnet Square Market) and Unity Lounge & Bar. Through these venues we deliver vibrant events, community programmes, pop-ups and family activities. We also provide entrepreneurial opportunities for local traders, as well as training and employment pathways for young people and adults. Each space serves as a welcoming hub designed to strengthen community life, celebrate culture, and support social well-being.
Unity Lounge & Bar
Unity Lounge & Bar is 2inspire Academy’s newest community space, a warm, inclusive venue designed for people to connect, learn, celebrate, and feel at home. Located above Sporting Club Thamesmead, the lounge combines a relaxed bar, a cosy café atmosphere, and flexible rooms suitable for workshops, community activities, private hire, and social events.The space also proudly serves as the home venue for Sporting Club Thamesmead and Erith Town FC, providing a welcoming base for players, families, and supporters when training and playing home games. This connection strengthens the lounge’s role as a true community anchor for local sport and culture.From themed nights, family activities, and cultural celebrations to training programmes, warm-space sessions, and youth projects, Unity Lounge & Bar is built for community life. With a friendly team, affordable hire options, and a commitment to local empowerment, the lounge offers a place where everyone is invited to participate, contribute, and belong.Whether you’re joining us for an event, hiring the venue, or simply stopping by for a drink or a meal, Unity Lounge & Bar provides a welcoming environment that celebrates connection, creativity, and community spirit.

Cygnet Square Community Day — formerly known as Cygnet Square Market , is our reimagined monthly event that brings families, residents, and visitors together in the heart of Thamesmead. Set against the backdrop of Southmere Lake and The Nest Community Building, the event offers a vibrant mix of indoor and outdoor activities that reflect the creativity and diversity of the local community.
Each month, Cygnet Square Community Day features a lively outdoor food court, family-friendly entertainment, cultural activities, and community showcases, while the indoor market at The Nest hosts a curated selection of local traders, small businesses, artists, and makers. The shift from “market” to “community day” reflects the event’s evolution into a fuller, more inclusive experience that goes beyond shopping, creating space for connection, celebration, and local pride.
With music, workshops, performances, children’s activities, and opportunities for residents to get involved, the Community Day continues to grow as a welcoming gathering place for all ages. It also provides a platform for emerging entrepreneurs, community groups, and local talent to share their work and engage with the wider Thamesmead community.
